two women from Springwell Community Dining program

I enjoyed the luncheon you offered last Friday at the Senior Center. The food was good, nicely served and plentiful. The atmosphere was welcoming and it looked as though every guest had a wonderful experience. I know I did.

Community Dining Program

Seniors need opportunities to socialize and maintain connections. Senior luncheons at community dining sites are a great way to stay active while enjoying a nutritious and delicious meal.

OVERVIEW

Springwell’s Community Dining Program provides a hot lunch at sixteen locations in Belmont, Brookline, Framingham, Hudson, Marlborough, Natick, Needham, Newton, Waltham, Watertown, Westborough, and Weston. The meal meets important nutritional needs while the setting provides opportunities for socializing and companionship. The hot lunch provided daily contains at least one third of the daily Recommended Dietary Allowance of nutrients. Nutrition-related programming is provided at each meal site twice a year.

WHY SPRINGWELL

Meals served at our community dining sites are consistently rated as both nutritious and tasty! Springwell’s Nutrition Department is led by a registered dietitian, who provides oversight to our catering vendors for meal planning, and samples a selection of meals weekly to ensure the high quality of nutritional content, taste, presentation, and variety. At each conveniently located dining site, a dedicated staff and team of friendly volunteers checks-in guests, serves food, and ensures a welcoming environment. Monthly menus are available online for all sites.

COST

While the Community Dining Program is a free service, participants are encouraged to make a voluntary, anonymous donation of $2.50 per meal.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • 60 or older, or
  • The spouse or a disabled child of a participant who is aged 60 or older
  • Individuals with disabilities who live at a housing site that hosts a meal are able to participate regardless of their age.
